Rotten Apples by tinamf@csrlink.net The whole video is has a black and white look but it is in color, everything is kinda drab and/or pale. The video starts a few seconds before the music atually starts. A Young man, any age between about 16 to 26, walks down a hall, camera close on his troubled-looking face and then on his feet, and then back. He is wearing faded, wrinkeled black pants, black shoes or boots, and a wrinkley grey(gray?) shirt. His medium-length hair is rumpled, and when the camera is on his face, he runs his hand thru it and looks as if he is on the verge of tears. He needs a shave. The music starts when he enters a bedroom and shuts the door, door is cue for music to start. He proceeds to go to the center of the room (room is somewhat dirty and has not been straightened up for a while, clothes, papers, etc. all over the floor, clearing in the middle, carpeting is a dark purpleish red and is stained, guitar, indeterminate make, old, proped agianst one wall. He sits down rather like he is falling, and picks up a picture, by now, Billy has begun to sing. When BC sings "...love unrequited", the camera show that the picture is of a girl who is of an age similar to that of the man and who is kinda pretty. The man's head falls and he seems to be crying softly as Billy fades into being, sitting on the edge of the bed in the room while singing and playing an acoustic. The man cannot hear BC. The next few scenes are outside, The guy, lets call him Jonas, (no reason, i just like the name) is walking on the street wearing the same clothes as before, but with a long, black raincoat-like garment. The streets are kinda dirty and eveything is dreary. It doesn't really matter exactly where the music is right now as the scenes are more of a discription of Jonas' story with RA as a soundtrack than an actual interpretation of the song. From across the street, Jonas sees the girl in the photo and is immediately brightened. She doesn't see him yet, and appears to be looking for someone. The street is about 4 lanes wide, the buildings aroud are somewhat old, 3 and 4 story, regular, dirty buildings, there is traffic, but it is moving consistantly. As Jonas begins to cross the street to talk to the girl, she is met on the opposite sidewalk by a man and they walk off together. Jonas stops in the center of the street and looks sad and angry. Cars pass on both sides of him. At second "Dirty your face...", Jonas is walking along a quiet street buy an old, red bridk factory. it is night and the streetlights shine down on him. He walks with his head slightly down and his hands in his coat pockets. He hears a car and looks up, when the car passes, the camera goes into the car and shows a guy driving with a girl beside him and two guys in the back, and the girl from the photo in the middle in the back. Some of the occupants are smoking cigarettes and they seem to be laughing and having fun. Jonas looks back down and as he walks, pictures fall from somewhere on him and fall to the ground, where they catch fire, but slowly, aroung the edges, so that you can see taht they are of the same girl. On third and last "Dirty your face..." the scene is back in the room but Jonas is not there, Billy is sitting ion the bed playing and singing as before, and the rest of the band is looking aroung the room. D'arcy picks up a picture and passes it to (i guess) Matt. James reaches down and plucks idley once at the old guitar while it rest against the wall. As Jonas walks in, D'ardy sets the picture back down on the floor and Jonas picks it up, he can neither see or hear anyone else in the room. He looks at the picture and when the camera shows him again, he is standing alone. "Dust to dust, we're wired into sadness."- Jonas lets the hand holding the picture drop and falls onto the bed. The End.
