Scratchie Records Mailing List
February 12, 1997
Hello all!
Yes we've entered into the crazy months of February -- its short but sweet and it has Valentine's Day and President's Day! Nothing but holidays in February!
Okay here's what's up with Scratchie:
First : Chainsaw Kittens have just gone to commercial radio with their ferocious single "Heartcatch Thump"! Its getting played at a bunch of places, but we need your support to get this record the attention it and the Kittens deserve. The Kittens will also be playing the following dates:
Feb 14: Oklahoma City, OK - - Will Rogers Theater
Feb 19: Ypsilanti, MI -- Eastern Michigan University*
Feb 20: New Haven, CT -- Toad's Place*
Feb 21: New York, NY -- Irving Plaza*
2nd Show, New York, NY -- Squeezebox @ Don Hills
Feb 23: Cincinatti, OH -- Sudsy Malones
March 10: Seattle, WA -- Showbox Theater*
March 11: Portland, OR -- La Luna*
March 13: Palo Alta, CA -- The Edge*
* with They Might Be Giants
Second: Fountains Of Wayne are back after their tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. Thanks to all of you who came out and supported Fountains and the Pumpkins. In a big arena alla you Scratchie pals made the Wayne boys feel right at home. Look for their next single "Sink To The Bottom" hitting your radio stations soon!
Third: Phoenix Thunderstone has been rocking the West Coast on their mini-tour. All of us here at Scratchie were sad to have missed the riot that occurred at their sold out San Francisco show when Lead singer Sean Heskitt, stripped to leopard skin briefs and the crowd mobbed him. Their record "Ride Of The Lawless" has been running up the college charts based on their completely out-of-control appeal. Watch out for a mid-west tour coming soon.
Fourth: Mike Ladd, who has a record coming out on Scratchie in May, performed at this thing called WORD LIFE in New York last week. It was amazing, Mike does very abstracted hip-hop type stuff and he was up on stage with a full band and a string section and just completely drew everyone to him as he seemed to resurrect the ghosts of Otis Redding with a touch of Barry White and a whole lot of Gil Scott Heron. Damn if I wasn't transfixed!
Fifth: To all those who sent in check for the video. Sorry it is taking so long, but the dubbing house that we oook the video returned to us 200 totally messed up copies, all static and terrible sound. The new ones should be back soon.
Sixth: Fulflej is ready to go out and create mass amounts of trouble on the road. We'll keep you informed when those dates come in.
Seventh: Adam Schlesinger, Scratchie owner and member of Fountains Of Wayne, just received an Oscar nomination for the song that he wrote, "That Thing You Do" for the movie of the same name. Hip-Hip-Hooray!
Eighth: If anyone would be interested, we're trying to find out more about our listeners and we have created this little survey. If you are interested please fill it out and e-mail it back to us:
