Thru The Eyes Of Ruby by hanslugo@gte.net As the piano intro plays, there are many fluffy clouds in the sunset sky. The view moves down as the sky changes to night. First guitar riff plays, and a dark purple ocean is revealed. The scene is very dark and gloomy and there are many rocks on the shoreline. Distortion riff plays while waves pound the shore. The camera zooms out to reveal cliffs on the shore. (Distortion Intro quiets to riff) We see dark sea green grass blowing in the wind. Ruby enters, dressed in a torn midnight blue dress. ('Wrap me up in always') Ruby is crying while walking, looking confused. ('Breathing underwater..') Camera emerges into the dark ocean, bubbles rise ('living under glass') and we see Billy and the band playing on land through the water. CHORUS (main riff) A huge wave pounds over the ocean and the band floats on the wave while playing. ('I believe in never') Ruby runs through a field of grass crying. (faith can help you..) Ruby has a flashback; she is at a wedding chapel which is happy and cheerfull. People fill the pews and there are flowers everywhere. Ruby stands at the alter in an elegant white wedding gown next to her groom. She smiles as he slips the ring on her finger. ('and with this ring I wed thee true') Her smile changes to an uncertain smirk. ('...I wed thee now') She begins to have second thoughts and looks worried. ('...and with this ring I play so dead') The groom changes and turns into an old skeleton. The sunny sky outside fades to black. People in the pews grow old and everything becomes dark and scary. Ruby's dress fades to a midnight blue and she looks around in fright. ('So let me tell you if you spin...') Ruby runs down the aisle, terrified, and out the door. People turn and look, emotionless and dead-looking. Ruby's vision fades away (during 'darkest fears...') and we see her crying over a boulder on the grass. ('To the revelations...')Ruby stops crying and stares at the rock, concentrating. (She turns around and looks at a faraway cliff. ('...youth is wasted on the young!) She starts running to the cliff. ('Your strength is my weakness') She starts up the grassy hill and staggers. ('my love for you...') She is now climbing steep rocks. She trips over a rock, tearing her dress. (forever lost inside ourselves) She has made it to the top. She stops and stares at the flat section of land ahead of her. ('the night has come...) Ruby walks slowly to the edge. The band is on the othe side of the clifftop, watching intently. (last quiet 'the night has come') sung by Billy who looks at Ruby, calm but with a sad face. (THE NIGHT HAS COME!...) Ruby closes her eyes and starts to jump. She leaps forward, her arms spread out, into the air and falls. ('...hold us YOUUNG!) The water below splashes as Ruby hits the surface. (guitar quiets) Ruby sinks into the deep ocean. Guitar continues and the camera zooms out over the water, overlooking the waves. The view then moves up to the star-filled sky. The rest of the song plays as we see shooting stars and twinkling planets. *Mellon Collie Reprise-The camera the moves down, and is zoomed in at Ruby's face. She is laying on the beach, lifeless. Her eyes are closed but you can still see a fresh tear on her face. The camera zooms away from her beached body back up to the sky, this time moving far and far away. The final shot shows the glittering night sky as well as the horizon, with the cliff way in the backround.
