D'Arcy

Hi... I'm D'Arcy,  yes just...D'arcy. Kinda like Brazilian soccer stars go by one name (Pele, Zico, etc.).

To the IRS I'm known as D'arcy Wretzky-Brown. I don't know why, but all government officials insist on a full name. But to the rest of the civilized world I'm...D'arcy! ...the one and only!

I'm a Michigan girl, born on May 1st 1968, which is Labor Day in most other parts of the world. And it's fitting, since I labored and worked my butt off to become the good bass guitar player that I am today.

And hey, I got no edukasion... but I don't need it, 'cause I'm so fine!

But seriously, in addition to regular schooling, I also received training in classical violin and oboe. That is...until I realized that my long slender fingers would be wasted if not used to play a rocking instrument like...bass guitar, a Fender P Bass to be specific (my favorite make).

I live on an apple farm in Southern Michigan that my husband Kerry Brown and I own. His band, Catherine, recorded their latest album "Hot Saki and Bedtime Stories" in our studio there. And I'm featured on two tracks on that CD ("Four Leaf Clover" and "Punch Me Out") which makes me featured on twice as many songs with Catherine as with SP!

As for my favorite music, well...the Beatles, Nirvana, Stooges, Queen, and Rolling Stones top the list.

Which explains why "The White Album" and "Bleach" are two of my favorite albums, along with "Psycho Candy" by Jesus and Mary Chain.

My favorite single is the Flaming Lips' "Everyone wants to live forever", among many others.

My favorite songwriters include Billy Corgan, Syd Barrett, Lennon/McCartney, and Kurt Cobain. But the people that have had the greatest influence on my career,...are the people I hate. Somehow they've propelled me to improve and excel.

When I watch TV it's usaully Star Trek, or bad b-movies made before the 70s. But I hardly have time to watch TV these days because of touring and because...

...James Iha and I formed Scratchie Records, and we've signed quite a few awesome bands like Chainsaw Kittens, Blaze, Ivy, Fulflej, and many others. And we've recently announced that we formed a joint venture with Mercury Records to "market, promote, manufacture and distribute records." Check our bands out!

Later alligator...

D'arcy did NOT write this herself.  It's based on data from the SP FAQ maintained by Eric Agnew.
