Billy

Hey, I'm Billy. But you can call me William Patrick Corgan.

In case you don't know, I'm a songwriter and guitarist with the Smashing Pumpkins.

They tell me I was born in Chicago on March 17, 1967...but I just take their word for it.

I went to Glenbard North High School in Chicago... the other day...but it was closed!

No, but seriously now, that is my alma mater, and I was the Feature Editor of the school's newspaper for a while there. (Read one of the articles I wrote for that fish wrap).

I still live in Chicago, with my wife Chris Fabian.

I consider myself a musician, poet, and philosopher, ...but I also dabbled in box making, brick laying, and even pizza baking in my youth.

If you must know, I played with a band called The Marked, before I formed the Pumpkins. And I was influenced by bands like Van Halen and Black Sabbath.

But pain, violence, and love are the main influences on my music and lyrics.

Right now, my favorite bands include My Bloody Valentines, Chainsaw Kittens, Skunk, Mercury Rev, and Thin Lizzy.

My favorite albums? Well... many of course, but the Beatles' Rubber Soul and Black Sabbath's Masters of Reality come to mind. But I also love the work of David Bowie, Mark Bolan (T-Rex), and Phil Lynott among many others.

I don't watch television, but two of my all time favorite movies are Citizen Kane and 8 1/2.

That's it for now...C'ya

Billy did NOT write this himself.  It's based on data from the SP FAQ maintained by Eric Agnew.
